Accessibility Statement

Before publishing: confirm three details

This statement is written as an honest self-assessment, not a claim of certified compliance. Before it goes live, confirm the three fields marked [CONFIRM] below: the review date, whether an external audit was done, and the correct national enforcement body for your Bundesland. Note also that as a Kleinunternehmer (microenterprise under 10 staff and under €2M turnover), you are most likely legally exempt from the European Accessibility Act, so this statement is published as good practice rather than to satisfy a legal duty. Do not upgrade the compliance status to "fully compliant" without a real audit.

weserberg.net is committed to making its website accessible, in line with the goals of the European Accessibility Act (EAA), the Web Accessibility Directive, and the harmonised standard EN 301 549, which references the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2 at Level AA.

1. Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA. "Partially compliant" means the site conforms to most requirements but some content has not yet been fully verified, as described in section 2.

Measures already in place include: text alternatives for all meaningful images and empty alt text for decorative ones; a keyboard-accessible skip link and a single main landmark on every page; visible keyboard focus indicators; semantic HTML headings and landmarks; form fields with associated labels; colour contrast checked to meet AA for body and large text; support for the operating system's reduced-motion preference; and a language that is set correctly and updates when switching between English and German.

2. Non-accessible content

The following may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA:

Photographic backgrounds behind headings. Hero and section text sits over photographs. A darkening overlay keeps text contrast above the AA threshold in our testing, but contrast depends on the specific image used. Alternative: all such text is also present as real, selectable HTML text, and the page remains fully usable if images fail to load. We re-check contrast whenever a background image is changed.
Third-party services. The weserberg.net Mail webmail interface and other open-source applications we host (for example Element, CryptPad, Nextcloud, Vikunja) are developed by their respective projects. Their accessibility is governed by those projects and is outside the scope of this statement. We can advise on the most accessible configuration on request.
Downloadable documents. Any PDFs provided (for example a Data Processing Agreement on request) may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. We provide an accessible alternative format on request.

3. Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared in July 2026 and last reviewed on [CONFIRM: review date].

Assessment method: self-assessment [CONFIRM: or name the external auditor, if one was engaged], based on a manual review against WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA success criteria, keyboard-only navigation testing, and colour-contrast measurement.
